Robert Davison
A man who sexually assaulted a woman on the Illinois Prairie Path has been sentenced to 66 years in prison.
Robert Davison, 45, who was homeless at the time of the crime, was sentenced Monday afternoon by DuPage County Judge Margaret O’Connell. He was convicted on Jan. 25 of aggravated criminal sexual assault and unlawful restraint.
Authorities alleged that around 12:30 a.m. on May 18, 2018, a woman screamed for help near the Public Action to Deliver Shelter site in Wheaton. They found a woman with dirt on her face and scratches and cuts to her upper body.
Police learned that Davison had approached the woman near the Prairie Path and demanded sex from her. When she declined, he dragged her by her hair into a wooded area and sexually assaulted her.
At the sentencing hearing, prosecutors said Davison had also sexually assaulted a woman 43 days earlier in Oak Park. That was considered an aggravating factor in determining his sentence.
Davison will have to serve at least 85% of his sentence before being eligible for parole and was given credit for the 6½ years he has been in custody since his arrest.
