Nick Chavez Passed Away: What Caused His Death?

Nick Chavez was a famous hairdresser, television personality, and entrepreneur best known as the originator of the Nick Chavez Beverly Hills haircare line. Before he went away, he dressed Michelle Stafford, Maria Shriver, and Ivana Trump, among an enormous list of renowned clientele.

Born in Yuma, Arizona in 1956, Chavez has been interested in hairstyling since he was a little child living on a farm. While caring for the family’s horses at the ranch, he grew adept at grooming them and discovered he could also design “cool and stylish” clothing for his family. Throughout time, he became noted for his ability to produce “daily magnificent” hairstyles that appear natural.

All About Nick Chavez

Nick Chavez’s professional hairdressing career began in 1977 when he began as an apprentice in a Beverly Hills, California salon. It didn’t take long for him to become a celebrity hairdresser.

Chavez delved into modeling and acting in the 1980s and achieved success in both fields, which halted his otherwise booming career as a hairdresser.

As a model, he collaborated with renowned designers including Valentino, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Saint Laurent, and was featured in Vogue, Elle, GQ, and Esquire.

In addition to Hollywood Detectives and The Young and the Restless, he has also appeared on television. In 1997, he returned to Beverly Hills and founded the Nick Chavez Salon, which quickly attracted a celebrity and socialite clientele.

Margeaux Hemmingway, Lisa Hartmann, and Belinda Carlisle were just a few of the celebrities that attended the salon at the time.

Chavez created his personal haircare and product business Nick Chavez Beverly Hills in 1999 after finding it difficult to get high-quality hair care products that are suited to various hair types. The brand built a respectable client base and expanded globally over time.

Chavez subsequently appeared as a hairdresser consultant on television talk programs and reality series, including Extreme Makeovers, The View, E! Fashion Emergency, and The Montel Williams Show.

Chavez Passed Away on December 23, 2022

In March 2020, Chavez was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the second stage. Following the loss of his mother in December 2019, he had been having terrible abdominal discomfort, which he originally ascribed to grief and melancholy.

In April, prior to undergoing surgery to remove the tumor, he began chemotherapy to reduce its growth. Chavez recovered from the treatment and briefly survived cancer.

“I was gravely ill, but I recovered. Indeed, my hair and skin also recovered! Both were able to recuperate,” he stated on the website.

Sadly, the illness reappeared and ultimately took Chavez’s life at age 66, nearly three years after the first diagnosis.

Nick Chavez, a loving brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away today at his Beverly Hills home after a long and valiant battle with pancreatic cancer, according to a statement regarding his passing.

The Nick Chavez Beverly Hills brand will be transferred to Robby LaRiviere, a fellow celebrity hairdresser and Chavez’s choice to serve as the company’s Global Beauty Ambassador.

In addition to being supervised by Chavez in “all product development and formulations” for the line, LaRiviere was also a collaborator for it.

Chavez’s sister Sandra, who has been a part of Nick Chavez Beverly Hills from its inception, will join LaRiviere as the haircare line’s ambassador.
